Rocky Tarn

Skalnate pleso - The Rocky tarn (Altitude 1751 m.a.s.l.) Gondola to Skalnate pleso - Rocky tarn, hiking to Hrebienok (3 hours). Transport from Stary Smokovec to Tatranka Lomnica.

We will take a gondola from Tatranka Lomnica to Skalnate pleso - The Rocky Tarn. The spruce forest is ideal for hiking. We will walk along the eastern part of The High Tatras to Hrebienok passing the beautiful waterfalls of The High Tatras and the mountain cottages. The waterfalls form a complex system of multi-terraced cascades. Obrovky vodopad - The Giant waterfall is clearly visible from the bridge on the tourist path. We will end the hiking in Hrebienok (altitude 1285 m). Hrebienok itself offers a superb view of Lomnicky peak, the western face of the second highest peak of The High Tatras. The rack-railway from Hrebienok which was build in 1908 takes us on a 2019 m long track to Stary Smokovec surmounting the altitude difference of 354 m.
