Wildlife Watching Tours
Mountain Paradise are delighted to offer a unique and exhilarating wildlife tour in the Tatra mountains national park which until now has been inaccessible to tourists. We are able to do this by integrating these tours into our bear research programmes which we are being undertaken with the High Tatras National Park Authority and the Tatra foundation.
Mountain Paradise has exclusive use of these rich wildlife areas in the national park providing you with the chance to see Brown Bears, Wolves, the endangered Tatra Chamois, Roe and Red Deer, the elusive Lynx, Pine Martins and many birds of prey including Golden Eagles & Falcons all in their natural environment.
The wildlife tours are centred on a unique opportunity to track bears in their natural habitat. We do not bait any animals to bring them closer to the hide which is usually the case with many wildlife watching tours in Europe, we rely solely on the expertise of the Tatra mountain rangers ability to track prints and the GPS guided information system set up from the Bear research conservation programme.
Hands on
These tours are a hands on adventure, you will be joining expert guides and Tatra mountain rangers in the stunning valleys of the Western & Belianske Tatra national park. In assisting the bear research programme in partnership with the Tatra foundation we will also be tracking, Wolves, Lynx, Tatra chamois, Roe and Red Deer and birds of prey. We will use remote mountain ranger cottages usually reserved only for the park rangers which provides immediate access into this wildlife haven.
Included in the price per person is a 100€ contribution which goes directly to the Tatra foundation conservation projects, The Tatra Foundation is committed to the conservation of wildlife and the preservation and restoration of habitats in the Tatra region of Slovakia through projects that involve local people and provide social and economic benefits to local communities.
Fitness level
This wildlife tour does require a moderate level of fitness to walk around the valleys of the Tatra national park, we have walks of approx 3 hours with ascent and descent during the day of wildlife watching. We will stop for periods to watch the animals in their natural environment.
Is This a holiday suitable for children?
This wildlife tour would be suitable for children of 14 years and upwards who enjoy exploring the outdoors with like-minded parents and are capable of sitting quietly during some of the wildlife watching periods.
